For some time now I already work together with Alessandro and Barbara from the Travel Agency „Italian Days“ with the aim to promote the territory of Montalcino with its fine wine and delicious specialties.
The Tours that are organized by “Italian Days” start in Florence, but can be organized also from other venues or places.
For this year we have planned to promote two Wine experiences in Montalcino.
This day trip will bring you to the authentic countryside of Montalcino inside the heart of the valley “Val d’Orcia”, recognized by the UNESCO as world heritage.
The tour starts in the northern part where you will visit a recently built winery with female charm and elegance. During the visit of the winery you will taste 3 of their elegant wines and will be enchanted by their magic.
After this wonderful start of the day, you will be transfered to a historic winery, where you can learn more about the history and the traditional character of Montalcino’s wines. During the visit, you will taste 5 wines, of course Rosso & Brunello di Montalcino, but also other authentic wines, as the historic Moscadello di Montalcino.
At the end of these two visits you will be hungry and already ready to enjoy a great Italian Barbecue.
So you will move into the southern part of this area where the owner of a small wine estate and cattle breeding is waiting for you. During this authentic visit you will be introduced in their local meat production and later you will visit their winery where they explain to you the characteristics of the Montecucco DOC production. Of course, you will learn all details during a delicious lunch with grilled meat on the barbecue and cold cuts of their own production, as well as tasting their wonderful wines of the Montecucco DOCG production. During lunch you can also enjoy a wonderful view on the Orcia valley.
You will leave this magnificent Valley at 4:30pm and turn back to Florence – maybe during the drive back you will already dream of your next trip to the Orcia valley.

This day trip will bring you to the heart of Montalcino. Discover in this way the wonderful countryside with its vineyards and olive groves, as well as the origin, story and tradition of one of Italians most famous and highly rated wines: The Brunello di Montalcino DOCG. The tour starts in the southern part of Montalcino, where you will visit a “Frantoio” – an authentic olive oil production company. You will discover their secrets of the Olive Oil production and taste three different olive oils.
Then you will drive to the small village Sant’Angelo Scalo where you visit the third biggest winery in Montalcino regarding the Brunello di Montalcino production the most important wine estate of organic production in this area. You taste three of their organic wines of Montalcino and of course their olive oil together with Tuscan bread. After the visit we will continue the drive to get near Montalcino. There you will visit a small family owned winery, circa 3km away from Montalcino that arranges a farmer light lunch. During lunch you have the possibility to taste their Rosso di Montalcino DOC, their Brunello di Montalcino DOCG and their selection.
After a small stop in Montalcino to have a digestive coffee we will continue to the last wine estate in the northern part of Montalcino. There you will visit a winery of “female charme” and elegance. With the last tasting of three wines you will say “Arriverderci” to Montalcino and enjoy a relaxing drive back to Florence.
